Film festival from December 15

5 French films, 2 Hungarian films and one Finnish film will be screened at the first Chandigarh Film Festival , beginning here on December 15. The Film Festival is being organized jointly by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Chandigarh Tourism with the support of National Film Division Corporation Ltd (NFDC) and the Embassies of France, Hungary and Finland from December 15 to 17 at Fun Republic,Chandigarh. A total of 18 films will be screened during the festival including 10 Hindi films.
The festival will be inaugurated by His Excellency Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, Governor of Punjab & Administrator UT, Chandigarh on 15th December at 11.00 AM. The films include Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Travaux on Sait Quand Ca Commence, Mirch Masala, Salaam Bombay, Viva Laldjerie, Main Zinda Hoon, Hanuman(an animated film for children), Violence des Echanges en Milieu Tempéré, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Rudali, Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda, Veer Zaara, Les Mauvais Joueurs "Travaux On Sait Quand Ca Commence" ("Work is Known When it Begins") will be screened on December 15. Directed by Birgitte Rouan, the film is about Chantal Letellier, a lawyer who always wins. But in her private life, Chantal, a divorcee with two badly brought up children, is a "loser".
French filmmaker Jean-Marc Moutout‘s feature debut with the drama Violence des Echanges en Milieu Tempéré (Work Hard Play Hard) will also be screened. Jérémie Rénier stars as Philippe Seigner, an ambitious young executive at a management consulting firm. Things are going well for him at work and he starts dating single mom Eva (Cylia Malki). Soon his boss, Hugo Paradis (Laurent Lucas), chooses him for a special job auditing a company outside of Paris. When Philippe realizes that he's been effectively downsizing a company, he begins to feel a moral opposition to his task. Work Hard Play Hard was nominated for the Golden Leopard at the 2003 Locarno International Film Festival. Eminent Bollywood personalities have been invited for the film festival.
A Mega Musical evening will be organized on 16th December at Leisure Valley to celebrate the Festival. Chandigarh Tourism is making efforts to promote Chandigarh as a destination for tourism therefore various innovative types of tourism promotion methods are being taken up like Cinematic Tourism, Medical Tourism, Heritage Tourism, Rural Tourism and Sports Tourism. The festival is part of this process.
